After reading this text, I have the confidence to dive into challenging problems. The case studies are complicated yet simple to follow. The text includes Professor Hillier's class notes, so a dedicated learner could teach him/herself. If you do any spreadsheet modeling, this is a textbook that you will want to keep within arm's reach.
