I wanted to take issue, however, with the subtitle/characterization that appears on Amazon's link to the book: "Supply Chain Integration Modeling, Optimization and Applications". I'm not entirely sure what those terms mean... but I'm pretty positive this book is not at all about those topics.
Instead, it is about how humans treat computers as "social actors" and come to them with the same set of mental models, expectations, and interpretations as they do for interacting with other humans-- and the implications of that phenomenon for design. Some of the chapters have to do with explicitly attempting to make computers more human-like in appearance and behavior; others have to do with how human expectations color interactions with computers and automation regardless of whether the machine has a human appearance or not. Some of the chapters engage cross-cultural differences in human-machine interaction.
I hope this is helpful-- and I apologize to anyone buying the book looking for supply chain modeling. Let me know if you were persuaded by Amazon's subtitle and I'll be glad to refund you my share of your costs (probably well less than $.01) :-).
